Prof. Cannataci serves as Head of Department and Deputy Dean at the University of Malta.
He is also a Full Professor, holding the Chair of European Information Policy & Technology Law within the Faculty of Law, University of Groningen, The Netherlands and an Adjunct Professor at the Security Research Institute, Edith Cowan University Australia.
Prof. Cannataci also served as the Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy for the United Nations for two consecutive terms (2015 – 2021). He has taught extensively, written books and articles, and directed fully-funded collaborative research in security science, technology law and privacy since 1986.
